In November 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in the development of China’s power grid with the completion of the first-ever ACCC® Conductor using the ACCC InfoCore® System project in the country. The project involved the upgrading of the 39#-40# span of the Jizipu Branch Line, part of the 125 Yangliu Line in Yijun County, Shaanxi Province. This upgrade marked the debut use of ACCC InfoCore® System in the region’s power grid.
The Jizipu Branch Line, originally utilizing 70/10 overhead insulated wires, required an upgrade due to changing network demands. After site surveys and thorough parameter comparisons, Yijun Electric Power Company decided to replace the old wire with Silvassa size (5.97mm core), 120 mm2 InfoCore ACCC® Conductor manufactured by NARI Yinlong with ACCC® Core produced at CTC Global’s production facility in China. This new technology offers improved performance, especially in high-altitude and ice-prone regions, making it particularly suited for the challenging environment of Yijun County.
The construction work, which began on November 11, 2024, involved careful coordination and the use of specialized equipment, including horizontal tensioners and motor winches for stringing the new conductor. Despite challenges such as access difficulties to the remote site, the project was completed successfully and powered on in just over 10 hours of work.
This achievement not only marks a technological advancement for China’s power grid but also sets a precedent for the future use of CTC Global’s ACCC InfoCore® Technology in challenging conditions, with the potential to transform how high-altitude and ice-prone power networks are built and maintained.
