From Years to Months: CTC Global’s Strategy to Speed Up Grid Projects

As electricity demand rises – driven by electrification, industrial growth, and a massive wave of new data centers – the pressure is on to modernize the grid faster than ever before. Fortunately, there’s a powerful solution already in place and already working. In a recent Blue Dot Capital Guest Snapshot, CTC Global CEO J.D. Sitton shared how the company’s high-capacity ACCC® Conductors are helping utilities meet that challenge head-on.

The conversation highlights just how urgent and transformative this moment is for grid infrastructure – and how technology can turn constraints into opportunities.

CTC Global isn’t just talking theory. With over 1,350 projects completed in over 65 countries and 30 U.S. states, their advanced conductors have proven themselves time and again. Designed to double the capacity of existing lines and cut line losses by up to 40%, ACCC® Conductors help utilities add much-needed capacity without the time, cost, or disruption of building new lines or securing new rights-of-way.

As J.D. puts it, “Reconductoring with our advanced conductors is around ¼ the cost of rebuilding or replacing a line… and it can cut project lead times from years to months.”

That speed matters now more than ever, especially in the U.S., where rapid load growth from AI-driven data centers, electrified transportation, and manufacturing expansions is outpacing what the current grid can deliver. “Customers needed ‘speed to power’ solutions,” J.D. explained, “and they don’t have years to wait.”

CTC Global is also drawing attention from tech leaders. In early 2025, the company announced a strategic collaboration with Google to accelerate grid upgrades using high-capacity advanced conductors. It’s a first-of-its-kind initiative focused on identifying and fast-tracking high-impact reconductoring projects that can unlock significant capacity by the end of 2026. The program includes cost assistance, lineman training, and technical support for utilities and developers ready to act.

“Google is looking at how that energy will be transmitted,” J.D. said, “and we’re thrilled to be working together to deploy our high-capacity advanced conductors to boost grid capacity and reliability.”

Policy support is also starting to align with this new reality. J.D. noted that state lawmakers and regulators are beginning to pass grid modernization initiatives that encourage the adoption of advanced conductors. That said, there’s still more work to do to match the pace of innovation with the pace of policy. “These are promising signs,” he said, “but more is needed… to ensure that our grid policies align with the pace of technological innovation.”
