PGCB Completes New 400 kV ACCC® Transmission Line in Mirsharai, Bangladesh

With the support of Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) completed its 400 kV BSRM transmission project in Mirsharai, Bangladesh. This new ~16.5 kilometer double circuit transmission line was built to supply power to one of South Asia’s largest economic zones which is under construction. The 30,000 acre Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar Economic Zone is being developed by the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority.

Currently energized at 230 kV, this line will eventually be raised to 400 kV and connect to the Koreghat Substation which is currently under construction. PGCB selected Dhaka size ACCC® Conductor which spanned approximately 383 meters between steel lattice structures. A 383 meter span was used to cross the Dhaka – Chittagong Highway. Approximately 70 percent of the line crossed through paddy cultivated areas and the balance was through coastal area swamps, making access extremely difficult. Materials and equipment could only be transported by small boats during high tide conditions. Mangrove trees and shrubs exacerbated the handling challenges further. KPTL’s crews did a fantastic job of coordinating the delivery and movement of equipment and crews.

Apar Industries Limited supplied the ACCC® Conductor and Dervaux provided ACCC® Hardware. ACCC® Installation support was provided by Master Installer Mr. N.J. Balaji.
