ACCC® Project in Greece: A Groundbreaking Step Toward a Greener Future

Overview

CTC Global is proud to announce its involvement in a transformative transmission project in Greece, marking the first ACCC® Conductor installation in the country. The project, which covers the construction of a 400 kV transmission line in the Peloponnese region between Korinthos and Koumoundourou, represents a significant leap forward in modernizing the Greek power grid, utilizing 1,200 km of ACCC® Conductor.

 

Project Highlights

  • Scope and Scale: The Korinthos-Koumoundourou double circuit line spans 80 km, with 95% of the line built on brand-new towers. This extensive project underscores Greece’s commitment to enhancing its energy infrastructure.
  • Ownership and Partnerships: The project is spearheaded by Greece’s Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), the national TSO, in collaboration with a Greek joint venture between Mytilineos SA and Atermon SA, responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), including installation.
  • Innovative Conductor Technology: CTC Global’s ACCC® Cardinal conductor was selected to meet IPTO’s ambitious goals of increasing ampacity, lowering sag, reducing line losses, and decreasing CO₂ emissions – all in line with EU sustainability targets.

 

Advanced Technology and Collaboration

The ACCC® Cardinal Conductor, was chosen not only for its superior performance characteristics but also for its innovative ACCC InfoCore® technology. This system enables structural core inspection before, during, and after installation, ensuring unmatched reliability and operational efficiency. The ACCC® Conductor is being manufactured by Midal Cables Bahrain while the fittings for the project are being supplied by TAG India, with the project slated to begin in March, 2025.

A delegation from Greece, including representatives from Mytilineos SA and the Atermon SA the main contractor and Greece’s IPTO the Nation’s Transmission System Operator, visited CTC Global to witness type and factory acceptance testing (FAT), demonstrating their commitment to quality and collaboration.
